Wish List
Volunteers are needed to help with camp projects. If you're interested please email Durand Reiber and put "HV Service" in the subject line.
Wildflower Planting
Volunteers are needed early May to help plant the 250-foot "bioswale" in Dogwood Forest. The drainage swale (funded by the Elizabeth Schultz Environmental Fund), was installed to solve drainage problems in the area that resulted from the city sewer project in 2007. Volunteers will help plant over 500 native perrennial flowers and grasses that will slow down and absorb rainwater (similar to a raingarden), while creating a beautiful wildlife haven for butterflies and birds. If you as an individual, or your troop is interested in participating in this project, please email Durand Reiber for more information and dates, which are yet to be determined.
Chainsaw Needs
Hidden Valley is always in need of chainsaw work, ranging from cutting up fire wood from downed branches, to cutting down small trees or cutting down large honeysuckle shrubs as part of our native woods restoration. Because hedge wood (Osage Orange) burns too hot and sparks too much, we do not burn it in our fire rings...you may take home as much as you want! All wood cutting requires signing a Hold Harmless Waiver, and meeting with the Camp Manager, Durand Reiber, prior to cutting. Email Durand Reiber.
